Riding the Rails

The Book "From Freight Trains to Airplanes"  has been written into a Movie Script and picked up by several producers for their reviewers, I am holding my breath.

The true story: "From Freight Trains to Airplanes" is a story about a boy growing up during the Great Depression, 1922 through 1939. In the middle of the sixth grade at age 13, he dropped out of school. He traveled around the western part of the USA riding freight trains from early 1935 through 1939.

He crisscrosses the western part of the U.S. riding the freight trains just looking for any type of work that will lead to a good meal, and his romantic delusions of grandeur are quickly dashed when he finds that the life of a 13-year-old hobo is anything but carefree or safe as his adventures take him down a spiraling path of life-altering events. It’s a brutal life, especially for a kid alone. He must learn to fend off sexual predators that are all too happy to befriend a hungry, tired young hitchhiker, as well as the infamous train cops hired to keep bums off the trains, the “Railway Bulls” who beat him to within a few breaths shy of losing his life. But when it almost seems to late, his spirit dares to reawaken when it seems there just might be a faint glimmer of hope left that could change his life…”

He competed in rodeos, worked on farms and ranches. He married, (Still married to Dorothy for 66 years.) The Infantry in World War II, (Received the Silver Star, Bronze Star and the Purple Heart medals.) - Still without any formal education he studied hard to be an insurance agent, sold cars, entered into real estate sales and finally became an entrepreneur in manufacturing of two-way radio equipment for the commercial and amateur radio marketplace.
